Jesse missed having Rebekah living so close to him but he knew it was best if they each had some space. Living so close was almost like living with each other and they were definitely not ready for that yet. Plus, and he hated to admit it, he liked that she had her own place away from him to do any vampire sort of things she might need to do. It wasn't that he hated or couldn't accept that part of her but he knew he wasn't ready to be faced with everything about that part of her life.

He knew that there were some important questions he had to ask her though that were important to their relationship. To Rebekah's credit she wasn't forcing her vampirism in his face, although part of him wondered if she was trying to "play human" around him. He didn't want that to be the case but for now he'd trust her, it was probably a more tricky line to walk than he understood.

Tonight was a movie night at his place though and he figured it would be a good time as any to ask a few questions that he'd been wondering about. Grabbing a bowl of popcorn and a mug of the tea she had given him, he handed her the popcorn before sitting down on the couch next to her.

"So, are you ready for Top Gun?"

Sometimes it occurred to Jesse that he met his friends in some pretty random ways. Take Elijah, for example, who he met while wandering through the park but now he was helping the guy decorate a nursery for his niece or nephew. It was a little but weird, but in an awesome way. Having friends like this helped Darrow feel less crazy. By having normal friends the place felt kind of normal.

"I still can't believe you got a house this size, in this neighborhood," Jesse said as he centered one of the pictures on the wall of the nursery. The house was pretty awesome and he was sure that Elijah, his sister, and Hayley would enjoy living there. If they agreed to it.

"But if Hayley doesn't move in with you, I think you should stay in the nursery just because this is going to be the most awesome room in the house."

Jesse had experienced some weird things in his life lately, like showing up in another dimension and an attack of killer Furbys, but this place had to take the cake. It was like something straight out of a Jim Henson movie. And not one of the Muppet movies either, like Dark Crystal flavored Henson.

It hadn't been entirely miserable though, because how many people could say that they went on an adventure with Captain Kirk? Well, besides people on the Enterprise. Also, the fact that Gollum was along with that worried him a bit too. While Jesse didn't have a magic ring or anything he really hoped he got back home with all of his fingers. The really amazing part of the trip though was Rebekah.

They'd been seeing each other for a while but this was sort of the first time they'd been stuck with each other. No going home at the end of the night, no hiding their weird bedhead first thing in the morning and no putting some extra effort into your appearance because you knew you were going to see the other person. All that and Jesse was pretty sure he was more crazy about her now than before this happened. Rebekah was a trooper through the whole ordeal and actually kind of badass about it. If Jesse was honest, out of the 4 of them from Darrow that were trapped here he was clearly the least suited to deal with this place.

Fortunately it wasn't like they had to fight off swarms of orcs or anything. No, nothing too life threatening, just stuff like puzzles to solve or, like they were currently facing: a giant maze made out of hedges. To make matters worse, at some point he and Rebekah had been separated from the rest of the group.

"Okay, I swear that talking tree told us to turn left, left, right, diagonal left, and then right and we'd be out of the maze. And we're not out of the maze."

It had been a while since Jesse had been on a first date. Even now, he wasn't entirely sure that this was a first date. It was more like a first date after a series of semi-official dates. With Beca things had just sort of happened. There were dates and they were official, but he didn't ever exactly ask her out. It was weird. Good, but weird.

But that was in the past now. As crazy as he had been about Beca she'd been gone for a while now and sitting around hoping she'd come back wasn't how he wanted to spend his life. Rebekah was fun, smart, beautiful and someone he enjoyed being around who seemed to like his company too. Asking her out on a date made sense. Alright, it also seemed like it would be a really great time.

She had agreed to go out and he had told her to wear something semi-formal. Not that he ever saw her wear anything less than that, but he wanted to be sure she didn't have to worry about being over or under dressed. He was pretty happy with his own outfit. It was more formal than he normally wore but he didn't mind taking it to another level at times.

The nice thing about going out with a girl that lived below you in your apartment complex was that you didn't appear too eager if you showed up on time. You just looked like you knew how long it took to walk down a flight of stairs. Knocking on Rebekah's door he shifted a bit nervously on his feet while he waited. It really had been a while since he'd done this and being so formal about it wasn't his usual modus operandi. Jesse liked it best when things just sort of happened.

Jesse had been looking forward movie night with Rebekah ever since they had arranged it. Granted, that had been just a few days ago but it still totally counted. Trying to pick a movie had been kind of difficult but he finally settled on The Breakfast Club. It was an awesome slice of 80's Americana and had a truly brilliant soundtrack.

His TV, one of the few expensive purchases he had made, was all queued up. It was huge, but it was big enough to enjoy it from the comfort of his couch. The popcorn was made too, better than the kind you get at a theatre even because when you eat as much as he did, you perfected it.

He still wasn't entirely sure if this was like a date-date or just hanging out, but since he was cool with either way he didn't stress over it too much. Mostly he just wanted Rebekah to have a cool introduction to modern movies.

Odds were pretty high they were going to have fun though. Rebekah seemed cool and totally eager to experience movies so it was just going to be a chill night and a good time. You couldn't really go wrong with the Breakfast Club.

Given the late notice he had about Kate's birthday Jesse was a little hard pressed to come up with something to do for her. Given how low key she seemed to want to keep it today though, it wasn't entirely possible. Jesse figured maybe it had something to do with her family not here or something like that, which he could understand. Everyone should have something fun to do on their birthday though.

At work that day, he'd started off by leaving an 'anonymous' note for her. It directed her to the break room where a bouquet of mostly dead flowers he'd found out behind a florist shop were waiting. The next note had a pretty easy to solve riddle that directed her someplace new. That one had a crudely drawn pink flamingo at the bottom, which he hoped would help her realize it wasn't some crazy stalker leaving her the stuff.

There were several more locations, most of them out of the way places only the grunt help like he and Kate knew about or visited, each one with a new treasure hunt note and some little gift. Mostly it was candy or random items he picked up for cheap at the thrift shop like an ornament or a new bathmat.

The last one brought her to the crappy little room they often had to go to if they needed to file something or retrieve a file. It was set up with a completely awesome table he was surprised no one had snatched up from the thrift store after the Furby attack, along with the crappy hot dogs from the cafeteria and two cupcakes he'd bought and decorated to look like eyeballs, one with a candle jammed in it.

Fun, but hopefully nothing too big that made her uncomfortable.

Jesse was looking for something fun to do and when he saw the flyer in the bar advertising a karaoke night, he knew that he'd found it. Karaoke was a lot more fun with friends though and unfortunately Beca was working. Fortunately, Beca was not the only person Jesse knew it Darrow. He even knew other people who could sing. Even better, he knew someone who could sing who also needed to get out and do stuff.

Knocking on Blaine's door, Jesse really hoped that his friend was home. He'd go by himself if he had to, but this would be a lot more fun with someone. Plus, it would be good for Blaine to get out and have some fun.

"Blaine, it's Jesse," he called out, as if Blaine wouldn't open it up otherwise. "Put some pants on, we're going out. Or no pants, either way we're going out."

Jesse was note necessarily huge into Valentine's Day. It was a commercial holiday and all that, but it was still kind of fun to do something overly romantic. Especially when you had someone overly romantic to do things for. Doubly so when you had someone to do them for that probably wasn't expecting them and would potentially be slightly embarrassed.

The first thing Jesse did was send her a bouquet to her work. So it was a bouquet of juice pouches, it was a bouquet all the same. After that, it was just a matter of waiting outside of her work, with his recently purchased guitar.

A small crowd of people had also gathered because apparently a guy waiting outside a building with a guitar on Valentine's Day was worth watching. Jesse wasn't looking for a crowd, but he wasn't bothered by it at all. He was used to performing in front of a crowd, actually.

Ever since Jesse had spent the small amount of money he had earned coming up with a commercial jingle on DJ equipment for Beca, he browsed pawn shops regularly looking at guitars. That's what he had been intending to buy when he got Beca's equipment (something he had no intention of letting Beca know) and while he didn't regret his decision, he really missed having a guitar.

He really needed some sort of job, because otherwise it was going to take forever to save up for something like a guitar, even one from a pawn shop.

"I'm going to go a little Wayne's World right now," Jesse announced, glancing around the mostly empty pawn shop. "Is that okay? I mean... okay, yeah, I think it's okay."

Turning back to the guitar, Jesse uttered those immortal words.

"It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine. Wow, okay, that felt a little bit dramatic there. Did that feel a bit dramatic to you?" he asked, turning to face the random person walking by.
